The artist has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the UK's small concert spaces.

He was presented with the award on 16 October as his latest record his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the past year.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part grassroots venues fulfilled in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I played around the North East, and further afield, when I was beginning," stated the artist. "These venues are renowned, but they are struggling."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – approximately 16% of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, major artists such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

He also took part, generating over £100k on his recent tour to help thirty-eight small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds supported venues that were confronting possible closure due to issues caused by flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues were granted financial assistance in upgrading infrastructure and technical equipment that directly benefitted musicians and audiences.

"The idea that money from performances in major spaces supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," the star has commented.

The musician is not the first artist to donate his award prize money to worthy causes.

In they earned the award in 1996 for their release their work, vocalist Jarvis Cocker declared that the band would contribute their winnings to the charity War Child.

In 2002, musician Ms Dynamite shared her bounty among multiple charities, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they required updated gear," the artist explained to outlets.

Previously, Ezra Collective gave their funds to the community center that nurtured their group, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year M People contributed their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the disease.

"Winning was quite enough," stated artist the singer. "The cash was the bonus but we could do without the extra, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted another person's life."

Last week, the MVT revealed it had rescued two small stages in the South East, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The first in the city and The Croft in the city were acquired under the public acquisition scheme, which is backed by Arts Council England and supporters who buy "shares" in the buildings.
