Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
